ACHPN® Virtual Live Certification Review Course

This instructor-led certification review course is designed to help prepare you for the upcoming Hospice and Palliative Credentialing Center (HPCC) ACHPN® Certification Exam.

This course provides a framework to prepare and a process to assess strengths and weaknesses of content prior to sitting for the exam. This course is facilitated by nationally recognized subject matter experts.

Each module in the review course addresses sections of the current ACHPN® Detailed Content Outline.

Learning Objectives

  • Explain core content areas relevant to the Advanced Certified Hospice and Palliative Nursing (ACHPN®) examination.
  • Identify individual strengths and weaknesses in core content areas to support ongoing preparation for the Advanced Certified Hospice and Palliative Nursing (ACHPN®) examination.
  • Integrate evidence-based concepts gained from the course to enhance the quality of patient care in hospice and palliative nursing practice.

Course Details

This is a virtual event. Registered learners will receive course access information and materials to their HPNA associated email address 3-5 days prior to August 21.

HPCC is not able to conduct or recommend specific review courses. The use of HPNA exam preparation materials does not imply successful performance on HPCC certification exams. The use of HPNA exam preparation materials does not give an advantage over candidates who do not choose to use them.

Continuing Education

Attendees can earn up to a maximum of 7.75 NCPD contact hours* and 2.16 Pharmacotherapeutic contact hours* upon successful completion of this course. Successful completion requires participants to remain engaged throughout the Zoom platform (e.g., cameras on, engaged in breakout sessions, etc.), and completing/submitting the post-activity evaluation within the timeframe specified.

All individuals in a position to control content will be submitting financial disclosure information, and appropriate disclosures will be made prior to the event.

Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Facilitators

Kristine Dukart-HarringtoKristine Dukart-Harrington, DNP, RN, AGNP-C, ACHPN®
Kristine is an adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner who specializes in palliative care for adults undergoing treatment for cancer. Her passion is enhancing the quality of life for her patients and their loved ones. Kristine has been a nurse since 2009 and a nurse practitioner since 2015, with experience in oncology, community health, and hospice and palliative care. She is currently a palliative care specialist at Providence Cancer Institute in Portland, Oregon, where she has worked since 2018. Her other professional passion is teaching; she served on faculty at University of Portland School of Nursing & Health Innovations from 2019 to 2023 and was graduate program director and chair of the Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner track. She will be returning to nursing education as a professor at Linfield University in 2025.

In her free time, Kristine can be found spending time with her family, including wife Laurie, daughters Kaia and Kinley, and their dog, Lorelai. She loves to play outside when the sun is shining, dance, and cook, and she is a voracious reader.

Adonyah WhippleAdonyah Whipple, MS, APRN, AGCNS-BC, ACHPN®
Adonyah is an adult-gerontology clinical nurse specialist who provides palliative care services in the acute and community-based setting. Adonyah has been at the bedside of her community members for 26 years as an emergency medical technician, nurse, and for the last eight years, an advance practice nurse. Adonyah’s passion and "why" is to develop and support the advancement and sustainability of palliative care services and quality of life promotion in rural care areas. Her experience has been in inpatient care, community palliative care, community hospice, community oncology care, and advocacy roles with her state board of health.

Adonyah is a huge supporter of palliative care education and loves to work with local colleges and universities to sprinkle palliative care principles into foundational nursing and medical education. Adonyah identifies herself as an "advance care planning nerd" and loves to support efforts around the legal and ethical considerations in the serious illness population. In her free time, Adonyah loves to spend time with her family and friends. She is married with two sons, a new grandbaby, and a very old and faithful dog!

Cancellation Policy

Registrants must place a cancellation request in writing up to three weeks prior to the event to receive a full refund minus a $50 administrative fee. Cancellations received less than one week prior to the event will not be refunded. Please contact the HPNA Education Department about cancellations.
